Trek Difficulty:

Easy to medium , the whole climb up to the temple has concrete steps so its quite easy to climb. If you are planning to trek beyond the temple it gets a little steep with small steps carved out of the hill itself , though there are railings on either side its quite a climb. Most of the time trek beyond the temple is closed for tourists for safety reasons. Even if you are not allowed for the full summit , you can walk a little farther from the temple which offers great views.

Best time to visit:

Ramanagara can be visited at all seasons , but a visit after monsoon makes the views great with lush greenery. We had also visited during summer and the whole place was like a dry land.

Tips:

Reach Ramanagara early to have a nice trek before the crowd and heat kicks in.

Carry water and snacks for the trek , there are no shops or people selling food or drinks nearby. Nearest place to get snacks or drinks is in the village on the way.

Food:

Lots of restaurants can be found on the highways as you drive but there are no shops or people selling food at Ramanagara trek.

Toll and Tickets:

Nice Road Toll: Rs 105

Ramanagara forest department: Rs25 per adult , Rs 20 for four wheeler

JanaPada Loka: 40 per adult , 20 per Child

Tried and Tested:

Breakfast @A2B

- You can it find on the Mysore-Bangalore Highway before reaching Ramanagara , food is as usual in A2B standards and a lot of parking space.

Lunch @ Kamat at Janapada Loka

- Had authentic Karnataka style setup with all employees dressed in traditional wear. The food was average with few good dishes. It was a bit pricey.

Shree Meenakshi Handicrafts

- Channapatna wooden handicrafts shop , though a bit pricey compared to other shops but indeed has better and wider range of collections. After crossing the Channapatna junction you can easily find the shop on the left side while driving towards Mysore.

There are many more road side shops as you drive beyond Channapatna , which can offer nice handicrafts at competitive prices.
