"The most valuable things in life don't cost any money" similarly many beautiful places in Singapore don't cost you any money. Traveling in Singapore as a tourist is an expensive endeavor , but still there are so many beautiful places to visit and things to do for absolutely Free at Singapore !!!

Gardens By The Bay :- Nearest MRT - Marina Bay


Gardens by the Bay is a showpiece of different flora and fauna which we would not expect to find in this region of the world ! Its acres of garden artistry. Definitely a place to relax and walk around with family and kids. Every corner holds something to amaze you , and its a visual treat for anybody and definitely a place to be for anybody who loves photography.

The two domes - cloud forest , flower dome which are the main attractions cost around 35$ each and walking around the super tree observatory is also charged but the Garden entry itself is free. Its recommended to spend some $s and enjoy the domes ,if not you still have acres of beautiful garden at your disposal for free.

In addition to this there is a light show that happens every night at 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM , which is also absolutely free and amazing to watch.

Spectra Light and Water show at Marina Bay Sands :- Nearest MRT - Marina Bay


Spectra is an extravagant light and water show on the Singapore River right in front of Marina Bay Sands. Not to mention its a very entertaining experience with music , water and light. Its an free to public show which happens every night every hour starting 8PM.

Mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish. The tail symbolizes the humble beginnings of Singapore as a fishing village and the lion's head represents the Majestic "Singapura - the lion city".

A happening place ! At the Merlion statue you can click some pictures with the majestic Merlion and never get tired to soak up the beauty of the bay with the backdrop of skyscrapers , Singapore flyer and the marina bay sands.

Sculpture walk :- Closest MRT - Clark quay or Raffles place


A stroll through the history and art. Art is not always confined to the Museums , one place that proves this is the sculpture walk from Boat quay all the way to Merlion.


This Sculpture walk takes us back in time to the good olden days of Singapore as a fishing village and to a time when the Banks of the river served as a trading hub. The sculptures bring back to life the heritage of this Country.


It costs nothing , but the art and bridges along the walk by the river offers beautiful pictures for the photo enthusiasts and a visual treat for everyone.

Vibrant shop houses at Clark Quay and Old Hill Street Police Station


The shop houses of Clark Quay offer good food and great diners and Water B at the Clark quay offers boat rides across the Singapore River for about 35$ , but the view of the shop houses itself is a visual treat and a free appetizer for the shutterbugs.

As you stroll by the Singapore River you will enjoy the vibrant colors of the shop houses and not to miss the 100's of colorful windows of the Old Hill Street Police Station !!!

Fort Canning Hill : - Closest MRT - Clark quay


If you are a nature person or enjoy trekking , you can go for a small trek up the "Fort Canning hill" which is right across the road from the Clark quay and beside the OHSP.

One can enjoy a trek here at "Fort Canning Hill" or "Bukit Larangan" - "The forbidden hill"

and unwind the long history of the hill at every turn !!

the canons ,the Raffles House , a Light House , a Spice Garden and many more await you on this trial and of course its all for free.


Tan Si Chong Su : - Closest MRT - Clark quay


"Tan Si Chong Su" or "Palace for the protection of the innocent" is a Chinese temple right across the street from the River Side Point. The architectural beauty of curved ridges on the roof adorned with dragons and flowers , the carved dragons and the murals on the walls are just one reason to visit this beautiful century old ancient temple. The calm and peace in the temple is very inviting !!


Buddha Tooth Relic : - Closest MRT - China Town ( Downtown Link / North East Link )


The Buddha Tooth Relic temple , one of the "must see" in China Town.

The temple was built recently in 2007 but the rich interior and exhibits of Buddhist art takes us back in time.


The Five storey visual delight houses a Buddhist temple , antique gallery and extensive Buddhist Culture museum.


As you enter you will be amazed by the rich interior of the temple , the walls adorned with thousands of small Buddha's in different mudras !! A sight to behold !!


The fifth storey which is more of a terrace which holds lush green garden , with ferns , bounsai's and orchids , Vairocana Prayer wheel , the place is so calm and trance. You here nothing but the sound of the flowing water gushing from the water bodies in the garden.

Thian Hock Keng Temple :- Closest MRT - China Town ( Downtown Link / North East Link )


"Temple of Heavenly Happiness" 19th Century Chinese temple dedicated to "Mazu" The Goddess of Sea. Built by the early Chinese immigrants to thank the Goddess of the Sea , the temple was formerly facing the waterfront but now sits in the bustling street of Telok Ayer in China Town !! Its a doorway to Chinese heritage and architecture.

Sri Mariamman Temple and Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple :- Closest MRT - China Town ( Downtown Link / North East Link )


Amidst the bustling junction of Keong Saik Road and Kreta Ayer Road are the dravidian Hindu temples "Sri Mariamman Temple" and "Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple" built in the honor of "Goddes Mariamman" and "Lord Vinayagar".

Both the temples outer sanctums are adorned by colorful statues of Hindu deities.

An experience of a Indian culture amidst of China Town.


China Town Food Street :- Closest MRT - China Town ( Downtown Link / North East Link )


China town food street might bring to your mind wonderful Chinese flavors , but a walk around this place has a lot more to offer an unique experience of vibrant colorful street side souvenier shops , bustling crowds and if you have a keen eye a walk around China town food street , E street , Amoy street and Ann Siang hill offers a lot of 3D street art and blissful views of well maintained colorful shop houses.

Sri Veeramakaliamman and Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple :- Closest MRT Little India


Sri Veeramakaliamman and Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple are two Dravidian style temples dedicated to Goddess Veeramakali and Lord Perumal or Lord Vishnu.

These temples built by the early immigrants from India , give you a glimpse of Indian Culture and Heritage.





House of Tan Teng Niah :- Closest MRT Little India

Not far from Sri Veeramakaliamman temple at Kerbau road is the Tan Teng Niah one of the old Chinese Villa which has survived over time.

This rainbow colored old Chinese villa , was once the house of "Tan Teng Niah" a Chinese businessman. Now it stands as an example of the harmony of cultures in Singapore - An ancient Chinese villa in the middle of "The Little India".

Singapore Botanical Garden :- Closest MRT - Botanical Garden MRT station


An amazing place to slow down , relax , walk around and be one with the nature. The locals seemed to enjoy this place as much as the tourists did. Many locals seemed to be picnicking with family , doing Yoga beside the Swan lake , kids playing around at the Jacob Ballas Garden.

Huge acres of land housing varieties of trees , flora and fauna. Swan lake is a great place to enjoy the breeze views and unwind peacefully. The Botanical Garden houses different gardens like the Ginger garden , healing garden , Orchid Garden , etc. Its definitely not possible to cover the entire place in a day but you can experience a part of it.


My personal favorite here was the interactive displays at the "Center of Ethnobotany" and the paintings and freestanding sculptures added around the Garden adding to the already beautiful place.

The entry to Garden is free , only entry to the Orchid Garden costs around 5$.

Sentosa Island:- Closest MRT on mainland Harbour front MRT Station


Sentosa is a great adventure packed Island with a wide variety of things to , there is something for everybody here. Though most of the things are payable , the entry to the Island itself is free of cost. There are a bunch of things you can do for free as well like"The Lake of Dreams" show , "The magical Shores" show , walk around the Pallawan Beach and Animal encounter at the Pallawan beach. Roam around "Fort Siloso" and the Fort Siliso Skywalk.





How to reach here ? Sentosa is located just 10 - 20 mins from the heartland of Singapore , you can either take the Cable car or the Sentosa express or just walk through Sentosa Boardwalk.
