One of the Oldest communities to migrate to Singapore are the Indians , their culture , traditions and heritage are still cherished here.
Little India literally gives you a glimpse of India , as the name says its India away from India.

Sri Veeramakaliamman
Situated at the heart of Little India - Serangoon road is Veeramakaliamman Temple. One of the oldest temples in Singapore , built by the early immigrants from India and worshiped to feel safe in the new foriegn land.
Though built in the 1980's it still stands as a prominent landmark in Little India.
The temple's outer sanctum is adorned with colorful statues of Hindu deities. A place filled with vibrant colors and a unique cultural experience.
Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple
Just down the road is another Dravidian style temple dedicated to Perumal incarnation of Hindu Lord Vishnu. At the first glance Sri Srinavasa Perumal Temple is much similar to Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple with the colorful statues adorning the exterior of the temple.

House of Tan Teng Niah :
Not far from Sri Veeramakaliamman temple at Kerbau road is the Tan Teng Niah one of the old Chinese Villa which has survived over time.
This rainbow colored old Chinese villa , was once the house of "Tan Teng Niah" a Chinese businessman. Now it stands as an example of the harmony of cultures in Singapore - An ancient Chinese villa in the middle of "The Little India".

Street Art :
Another activity you can do on this trial is "Art Hunting" on the narrow streets of Little India. Right across the street from the House of Tan Teng Niah are some beautiful Murals depicting the culture and social life of India especially Southern region - Tamil Nadu.
Mustafa Center :
In the Syed Alwis Road is the huge 24 hour shopping mall - Mustafa Center.
Missed to bring anything on your trip or need to make a foreign exchange , they have you covered with all under single roof and a 24hr open shopping mall at the heart of Little India.
Sure it is a bit crowded and disorganized , but definitely is one of the places for hassle free foreign exchange.
Food Street :
There is no specific food street at Little India but as you roam around the streets of Little India you are sure to find all popular Indian restaurants like A2B , Thalapakatti , Anjappar and many more interesting shops serving delicious South Indian Food.

It's a Unique cultural experience , where you will be bombarded with a plethora of Hand made crafts , mud rock ceramics , Indian clothes , Indian food.
For an Indian , this is a home away from home and for those who are not , a visit to this place gives an insight of India especially the southern part of India and leave them yearning to have a visit to India !!
